Inishglora
The “Inishglora” quilt draws its inspiration from the enchanting Irish legend of the Children of Lir. This timeless tale tells of King Lir’s four beloved children, who were transformed into swans by an evil spell and cursed to spend 900 years: 300 years on on Lough Derravaragh, 300 years in the Straits of Moyle and the final 300 years in the waters surrounding Inishglora, an island near the coast of Co. Mayo, Ireland.
The quilt’s design features Half Rectangle Triangles, symbolizing the graceful swans in flight. The number four is playfully woven throughout the pattern, echoing the four children of Lir.
Let “Inishglora” bring a touch of Irish folklore and the beauty of the legendary swans to your quilting journey.
